Daniel's final vision is of angels doing battle; then the book closes. What is going on in this book and around us today that makes this man's message so important to us? Antichrist... The word evokes powerful responses... some think of scary and bizarre movies, some cringe in superstition, and some laugh. What do we do when we are reading our Bibles and suddenly we are reading about: a Lion with eagle wings, a Bear chewing on ribs, a Leopard with 4 wings and 4 heads and a Little Horn on a beast that uproots other horns and speaks pompous words??? Daniel and the Lion's Den is the most familiar story in the book of Daniel. What is not so commonly known is the incredible pressure Daniel was under by people who were envious of him. This is office politics and backbiting taken to an ultimate degree that includes possible execution. Daniel once again shows us how to live godly and even peaceful lives in the midst of a hostile world. Does your world turn mean sometimes? Do people turn on you while all you are trying to do is to quietly be faithful to God? Daniel will teach us much on how to live for God in the face of such challenges.

We have been studying in the book of Daniel how God has been patiently humbling the great king of Babylon. God has been revealing much about His greatness and man's smallness. Now, in this chapter, another arrogant king takes the stage, but this time things turn out very different.
