Life of Daniel: How To Lose the Fear of Man

We have been studying in the book of Daniel how God has been patiently humbling the great king of Babylon. God has been revealing much about His greatness and man's smallness. Now, in this chapter, another arrogant king takes the stage, but this time things turn out very different. Daniel is an older man now; he has seen so much, and he no longer seems to fear anyone at all, no matter how powerful. How to lose the fear of man is one of the lessons here.

One of the fullest and most graphic descriptions of the Sovereignty of God is given through the lips of one of the greatest kings to ever walk on the earth. But, it took a lot of dramatic humbling to get him to acknowledge the God Alone is God!! We will study this amazing passage from Daniel.

Mark: Matthew's Party

How do feel about the people who collect our taxes? Nobody really likes to pay taxes, but would you seriously equate tax collectors with robbers and murderers? Mark describes Jesus' call of Levi the tax collector as an example of how we should interact with those we dislike. God loves the unlovable.

Mark: Sins Forgiven... A Big Deal

Jesus delays healing a paralytic while he forgives his sins. That is not what the man wanted... he wanted to walk. What is Jesus teaching here in Mark about what is most important?

  • Why did Jesus not heal the man first and then forgive his sins?
  • How were the scribes sort of right and also very wrong?
  • How do people today want Jesus' blessings but are not really concerned about having their sins forgiven?
  • Why is having our sins forgiven the most important thing?
