2 Corinthians: Defending the Ministry

Concluding 2 Corinthians Paul defends his apostleship against the self-proclaimed for-profit apostles of the region. He stressed his incredible love for the Corinthian church despite their less than enthusiastic love for him in return.

2 Corinthians: My Grace is Sufficient for Thee

2 Corinthians includes Paul's vision of heaven and his thorn in the flesh. We will look at why Paul received this vision, and why Paul's thorn was not removed after much prayer. Often before God will use us in a great way, He will first put us in a position of dependence upon Himself.

2 Corinthians: Job Search

In this part of 2 Corinthians we will see that the Apostle Paul did not just do a job for God, but he demonstrates his deep love and passion for God and His Church and shows us his willingness to take up his cross daily and follow Christ. His example to us should help us see our ministries in and through the church and how we should exhibit these same motives, commitment, and love every day as we serve the same God and Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know what your ministry is? How do you go about that ministry? God never says... just do a job for Me. He is looking just as much at how and why and our attitude as we serve Him.

2 Corinthians: Why and What We Give

In 2 Corinthians 9 we will be looking at different reasons why people in the church give. Paul is not ashamed to talk about giving... he provides two full chapters on it. We will look at the gospel and how it affects our giving. By the way, you might want to come tonight to see how your giving meets God's test. God does have something to say about not just giving but why and how we give.

2 Corinthians: Encouragement to Completion

In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul encourages the Corinthians to complete in the fellowship of ministering to the saints in Jerusalem. What does this look like? What are the motivations? Does Paul lay a burden upon the Corinthians as they continue to turn their ship around? What does our Lord Jesus say about this? What a great treasure of application we have in this text concerning this fellowship!

2 Corinthians: Crocodile Tears

Paul had to tell the Corinthians some hard things in his first letter. In his second, he reflects on how it went... did the Corinthians get offended... did their pride get in the way... did they hear and respond??? We gain great insight into how a Christian should respond to the encouragements or even admonishments of others. We will also discuss a very vital aspect about a very vital topic.. what does true repentance look like, and what is the difference between godly sorrow for sin and worldly sorrow for sin, or how to get beyond crocodile tears and on to real change.

2 Corinthians: Being in the World But Not of the World

It is complex at times to know how to live a holy life in this world. God calls us to be holy but what does that mean? How do I interact with this world and its people, ideas and technology? Should we break all contact like the Amish... is that the only way? But what did Jesus mean by being in the world but not of the world? Paul and the Corinthians were struggling with these issues as well and in our study of 2 Corinthians, we will learn from their experience and wisdom.

2 Corinthians: What Does Works Have to Do with It?

How can the Bible say we will be judged by our works... when it also says we are saved by grace through faith and not of works? This is an important question for many reasons, but most importantly because we are all going to appear before the judgment seat of Christ. In our study of 2 Corinthians, we will take up this topic.

2 Corinthians: God's Down Payment

What happens to Christians after they die? Where do they go, and how do they go there? When does the resurrection body come in? How can we have confidence that this will be our experience? These are the subjects Paul takes up in 2 Corinthians to encourage the believers. He also speaks of the guarantee or down payment that God has given us ahead of time to fill us with confidence!!

2 Corinthians: Start Renewing

Despite all the trials and persecutions Paul faced he still had a bubbling joy. He didn't lose heart because he knew his inner man was being renewed daily. In this short passage from 2 Corinthians Paul explains this recreating process.

2 Corinthians: Go Beyond

Paul is an amazing person and the more you get to know him the more you admire his God and how God worked in his life. He tends to inspire us to go beyond where we are presently at. This passage we will study in 2 Corinthians is one of those passages. Come be around Paul and be changed by his words.

2 Corinthians: Unknown Blessings

Have you ever heard of someone who is going through life incredibly blessed, and yet, they don't know it? Maybe their farm is sitting over billions of dollars of oil, but they are struggling to make ends meet. Well, Christians can be like this, and you may be one of them. Do you know how blessed you are? Do you know how superior the New Covenant is than the Old Covenant and the reality that means for you? Do you know how excited Moses, David, Daniel or Isaiah would be if they had your privileges... but they did not have the New Covenant blessings as you have known them! They would rush to study 2 Corinthians!!!

2 Corinthians: Going from Too Lightly to Awe and Wonder

We have a tendency to take things so lightly at times. Then someone comes along and reminds us of how significant the gospel is, how crucial it is that we live it out for those around us, and how we can get power to do that. We will listen to the Apostle Paul remind us of these things from 2 Corinthians and cause us to feel an awe and wonder at what we sometimes treat too lightly.

2 Corinthians: Security in Christ

We will continue our study of 2 Corinthians. Paul is in a very tense situation with people trying to undermine his relationship with the church. He deals with this matter with grace and with reminding us of some wonderful realities of how secure we are in Christ. Do you know how secure you are in Christ? Listen and gain hope and courage!!

2 Corinthians: Why Does God Let Trials Happen to Us?

We all face trials, difficulties, painful experiences in life. God is in control... but why does He let these things happen? We will look at two very important reasons: first, God is using these events to let you experience Him in new and closer ways, and secondly, He is going to use you to comfort and encourage others. We will begin our study of the amazing book of 2 Corinthians. If that phrase doesn't mean anything to you, then join us to experience this book in a fresh way and see why it is truly amazing!!
