  1. Thank you for this timely message. I went on to read a significant portion of the ending of Ephesians. I would say that I never really paid attention to those two little verses of Ephesians 6: 19, 20 until I found that it profoundly related to a situation I found myself in. They are: 19Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

While we are not physically in prison, in many ways we can be ambassadors in chains. In terms of my position: I am not in a position of authority or power; I'm in a probationary role; I am and seen as new to the organization (a year is not that long!); I am seen as young; I cannot always openly declare God's truth to coworkers in my work organization-- conveying it becomes a more creative, more challenging process--one that you truly have to act out and do, be on point at every turn. But, like the verse says, when I open my mouth, God can give me words to speak, without fear, that demonstrates the radical nature of grace and love that is only God-enabled (which I believe is part of the mystery of the gospel---I think the mystery, in part, is that a person is enabled to put into action a different response than what is typical of a situation, so that people see and question 'how is it that you can be the way you are and treat others so kindly and graciously who treat you badly?').
