You Must Bear Fruit

Jesus probably shocked His listeners by one of His I AM statements when He said He is the True Vine. They would have understood exactly this reference to Messianic prophecy. But comfort comes from abiding in Him, thriving on the nutrients He provides, so we can bear fruit.

The Dangers of Drifting

The Bible speaks of the Dangers of Drifting slowly and subtly from your first love of Christ. We will look at how to stop the drift.

Hebrews 5:12-612,2:1-4,4:1-2,10:23-25,6:11-12,11:6
Revelation 2:1-5,3:14-20
2 Timothy 1:6-7

Sermon discussion questions for parents to use with their children:
  • What are some of the reasons why people drift away from Christ?
  • Why is this so bad?
  • What are specific areas you/we struggle with?
  • How can the drift be stopped?

Mark: Matthew's Party

How do feel about the people who collect our taxes? Nobody really likes to pay taxes, but would you seriously equate tax collectors with robbers and murderers? Mark describes Jesus' call of Levi the tax collector as an example of how we should interact with those we dislike. God loves the unlovable.

John 8:1-12
Luke 19:1-10,5:28-29
Mark 2:13-17,1:16
1 Corinthians 15:33
2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
